The HEILMAN KARATE ACADEMY, INC..would like to take this opportunity to make you aware of our unique program of self-defense for women.
In existance since 1972, the HKA has a long and distinguished history of providing quality martial arts programs embodying the development of the mind, body and spirit here in Berks County as well as nationally and in several foreign countries. In recent years, it has become apparent that some individuals need a more personal touch. Accordingly, Mrs. Heilman developed special self-defense classes for women.
This highly acclaimed program called the "WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT SEMINARS", provides training opportunities for those women who do not have the time to participate in a full year around program.
The WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT SEMINARS taught by Mrs. Heilman, focus on:
Prevention Strategies,
Overcoming Fear,
Assertion vs Aggression, and
Self-Defense Techniques.
Participation in this unique Self-Defense Program is for women of all ages from teenager to senior citizen. No one is never too old to learn to protect themselves and to "take control of their lives".
In addition to her extensive martial arts experience, Mrs. Heilman brings a strong academic background to this program. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Albright College, a Masters of Science Degree in Education from Temple University, and a Master's in Special Education from Lehigh University. She worked as an Adjunct Instructor in Behavorial Sciences at RACC, and currently is a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst working with Autstic Children. Over the years she has served on Boards of Directors for People Against Rape / Crime Victims Center, and the YWCA.
The WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM is offered at the HKA on a periodic basis. Local businesses and civic organizations can also sponsor such a program for their personnel. If you would like additional information on offering such a program for your group, give Mrs. Heilman a call or email.
